The Bridgewater Canal - Leigh Branch ended and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal - Leigh Branch started with superb views across beautiful lakes and flashes as it wound its way to Wigan. Here the Leigh Branch ends and the Liverpool bound mainline continues south-west while the Leeds bound Leeds and Liverpool Canal - Mainline continues north-east. We are heading towards Leeds. This photo is taken from the bottom lock of The Wigan Flight looking back (past Fantasma) towards the Leigh Branch/Mainline Junction. The bridge in the upper foreground is the main north/south railway.
